Shot 2 Close shot of B (an advance on the visual axis of the preceding shot). A enters from right and crosses behind B and exits left.

In the first shot A’s short movement to the left covers half the screen width very quickly. In the second she crosses the whole picture width behind the static player who dominates the scene from his central position.

A variation of the above is to frame both players in separate shots. Starting with an establishing shot showing them together, move to single shots of each, edited in parallel. One player then moves away. Fig. 16.13 shows this simple variation.
